Ruby and the Wicked Wolf
Beginner · ≈ 1 min story · 1 min read
On her way to Grandmother's cottage with a basket of food, Ruby meets a sly wolf who talks her into stopping to pick flowers. While she gathers a bouquet, the wolf races ahead, and it takes a passing hunter to save the day. A short, gentle retelling of Little Red Riding Hood about thinking twice before trusting a stranger.
Ruby was walking through the woods to visit her grandmother, carrying a basket of food. On the way, she met a wolf.
“Where are you going?” asked the wolf. To my grandmother’s cottage,” Ruby replied.
The wolf smiled slyly. “Why don’t you pick some pretty flowers for her?” Ruby thought it was a lovely idea and stopped to gather flowers. But while she was busy, the wolf hurried to Grandmother’s cottage. He swallowed Grandmother whole, put on her clothes, and climbed into her bed.
When Ruby arrived, the wolf suddenly jumped up and swallowed her too. A hunter passing nearby noticed the open door and went inside. He quickly understood what had happened. The hunter opened the wolf’s belly and rescued Ruby and her grandmother, both safe and unharmed. Ruby hugged her grandmother tightly. From that day on, she remembered to be much more careful when talking to strangers.
