The King and Princess Bears
Beginner · ≈ 1 min story · 1 min read
A witch turns a rude king and his daughter into bears, and the only way to become human again is to climb the blue mountain and chew the special plants that grow there. A hunter follows them with his bow, but the bears change back just in time. The king forgives the hunter and gives him a fresh start.
Long ago, an old witch became angry with a king and his daughter because they had been rude to her. With a wave of her magic, she turned them both into bears. The king and princess begged for forgiveness. The witch finally said, “You can become human again, but only if you climb the blue mountain and chew the special plants growing there.”
So the two bears began their journey. A hunter spotted them climbing the mountain and quietly followed. He raised his bow, ready to shoot. But just then, the bears reached the plants and began chewing them. Before the hunter’s eyes, the large bear turned back into the king, and the little bear became the princess again.
The hunter dropped his bow.
“Please forgive me! I promise never to hurt animals again.”
The king forgave him and, seeing that he had truly changed, gave him a new job as the driver of the princess’s chariot.
