Emma Forgives Lily
Beginner · ≈ 1 min story · 1 min read
Emma and Lily climb into a giant's orchard to pick fruit. When the giant comes, Lily escapes over the wall and, frightened, tells him that Emma did it. Later Lily finds Emma safe at home, and instead of getting angry, Emma forgives her and asks for one promise: never blame someone else to save yourself.
Emma and Lily went to the same school. One day, they climbed into a giant’s orchard and began picking fruit. Suddenly, they heard the giant coming. Lily quickly jumped over the wall and escaped, but Emma could not climb out in time. Outside the orchard, the giant saw Lily and asked, “Did you steal my fruit?”
Lily became frightened and said, “Emma did it.” The giant went back to look for Emma, but strangely, he could not find her. Later, Lily returned home and found Emma there. Emma said, “I heard what you told the giant.” Lily looked down, ashamed. But Emma continued, “I forgive you. Just promise me you will never harm or blame someone else to save yourself.”
“I promise,” Lily said.
She hugged Emma tightly, thankful that her friend had chosen kindness instead of anger.
