Emily has lost her doll again and can't find it under the bed, behind the sofa, or in her toy box. Grandma shares a simple trick: think about where you played with it last and follow your steps backward. Emily remembers her backyard tea party, finds her doll right where she left it, and promises to put her toys back in their place from now on.
Emily had lost her doll again. She looked under the bed, behind the sofa, and inside her toy box, but the doll was nowhere to be found.
“Mom, have you seen my doll?” she asked.
Her mother sighed. “You lost it again? Emily, you need to be more careful with your things.” Grandma smiled gently and said, “Don’t worry. Think carefully. Where did you play with it last? Follow your steps backward.” Emily closed her eyes and tried to remember. Then suddenly she gasped.
“The backyard!”
She hurried outside and saw her doll lying exactly where she had left it after her little tea party. Emily hugged the doll tightly. “I found you!” Then she smiled and said, “I’ll put my toys back in their place from now on. I don’t want to lose you again.”
And this time, Emily really meant it.
