Emily had been waiting for her piano recital for weeks. She had practised every day and was excited to play in front of a big audience, including her family and friends. But on the morning of the recital, her excitement suddenly turned into fear. “What if I make a mistake? What if everyone laughs?” she thought.
Emily ran to her mother. “Mom, I can’t do it!” Her mother gently held her hands and said, “Close your eyes for a moment. Imagine you are at home, playing just like you always do.” Emily took a deep breath and remembered all her practice. When her turn came, she walked onto the stage, sat at the piano, and closed her eyes for a moment.
Then she began to play. The music flowed beautifully, just as it did at home. When Emily finished, the audience clapped loudly. She smiled and realised that sometimes courage begins with one calm breath.
