A gardener plants a tiny sapling beside a huge tree, but the sapling is too scared to grow because it worries it will look silly next to its giant neighbor. A kind forest fairy named Lily tells it that every tree grows in its own way. Little by little the sapling reaches for the sunlight and becomes a beautiful young tree, then encourages the new saplings that sprout around it.

Once, a gardener planted a tiny sapling beside a huge tree. But day after day, the little sapling refused to grow. One morning, a forest fairy named Lily noticed it. “Why aren’t you growing?” she asked gently. The sapling sighed. “I’m scared. That tree is so big. My branches are tiny, and I will look silly beside it.”

Lily smiled. “You don’t have to be like that tree. Every tree grows in its own way. Perhaps one day, you may even grow taller.” The little sapling thought about her words. It lifted its leaves toward the warm sunlight and listened to the wind rustling through the forest.

Day by day, it grew stronger. Within a year, the tiny sapling had become a beautiful young tree. And as more little saplings appeared nearby, the young tree encouraged them too.

“Don’t be afraid to grow,” it whispered. “You never know how wonderful you may become.”
