Clara works hard to clear, water and plant her field, but every morning it is covered in tall grass again. One night she hides and watches, and discovers a magical bird undoing all her work, so she catches it in a net. When the bird asks to be set free because the field is its home, Clara kindly lets it go, and its secret leads her to a pot of gold buried in the middle of the field.
Long ago, a poor farmer’s wife named Clara worked hard in her field. She pulled out weeds, watered the soil, and planted seeds. But the next morning... The field was covered with tall grass again! Clara was puzzled. The next night, she hid nearby and watched carefully. Soon, a magical bird flew down and said, “Everything that has been done here should be undone.”
At once, the grass grew back. Clara quickly caught the bird in a net. The bird said, “Please let me go. This field is my home. If you free me, I will make you rich. Dig in the centre of the field.” Clara thought for a moment, then released the bird.
She dug exactly where it had told her. Before long, her spade struck something hard. Inside the ground was a huge pot filled with gold. Clara could hardly believe her eyes. She took the treasure home and lived happily from then on.
