Listen to Sleeping Beauty
Once upon a time, in a beautiful kingdom surrounded by green hills and sparkling rivers, there lived a kind king and his queen. Their kingdom was peaceful, the people were happy, and the royal palace was filled with beautiful gardens and lovely music. But the king and queen had one wish that had not yet come true. They wanted a child, and for many years they waited and hoped. Then, one wonderful morning, their wish finally came true. A beautiful baby princess was born, and the king and queen were overjoyed.
They named their little daughter Rosebud. "Our precious little Rosebud," whispered the queen, holding her baby close. "She is the greatest gift our kingdom has ever received," the king said, smiling proudly. Soon the entire kingdom was celebrating. Bells rang across the village, colorful flags decorated the streets, and everyone rejoiced at the birth of their princess. To celebrate, the king and queen arranged a grand feast at the palace.
They invited all the fairies in the kingdom to bless their daughter. Well... almost all of them. You see, they had forgotten to invite one old fairy, and this fairy was known for her terrible temper. On the day of the celebration, the palace glittered with golden lights, and one by one the fairies approached baby Rosebud. "May you always be happy!" said the first fairy.
"May you grow up kind and generous," said another. "May your heart always be filled with love," wished the third. The king and queen smiled as the fairies showered their daughter with wonderful blessings.
But suddenly, the great palace doors flew open, and an angry voice echoed through the hall. "How dare you forget me!" Everyone turned toward the entrance. Standing in the doorway was the old fairy, her face filled with anger, and in her hand she held a frightening wand topped with a skull.
"You invited everyone except me. But don't worry, I have brought a very special gift for your precious princess." The queen held baby Rosebud tightly. "Please, don't hurt our daughter," she begged.
But the wicked fairy raised her wand. "Listen carefully. When Princess Rosebud turns sixteen, she will prick her finger on a spinning wheel. and die." The entire hall fell silent. The queen began to cry, the king stood frozen in shock, and with a wicked laugh the old fairy disappeared.
But there was still one fairy who had not yet given her blessing. She was the youngest and kindest fairy of them all, and she stepped forward and gently raised her magical wand. "Do not be afraid, Your Majesties. I cannot remove the curse completely, but I can change it."
A soft glow surrounded baby Rosebud. "The princess will not die. Instead, she will fall into a deep sleep for one hundred years, and only a kiss of true love will awaken her." The king and queen felt a little relieved, but they were still terribly worried. The very next morning, the king gave an important order. "Every spinning wheel in the kingdom must be destroyed. I will not allow anything to harm my daughter." And so every spinning wheel that could be found was burned, and the king hoped the terrible curse would never come true.
Years passed, and little Rosebud grew into a lovely young princess. She was beautiful, kind, generous and caring, and everyone in the kingdom loved her. Whenever she walked through the palace gardens, the servants smiled and greeted her warmly. But the king and queen never told Rosebud about the wicked fairy's curse. They wanted their daughter to grow up without fear. Then, one day, Princess Rosebud turned sixteen. That morning she was wandering through the palace corridors, exploring places she had never visited before.
She walked past tall windows, beautiful paintings and long stone staircases, until she noticed a narrow staircase leading up to an old tower. And sitting near the top was an elderly woman, working with a strange wooden wheel. "Oh! What is that?" asked Rosebud. She had never seen anything like it.
The wheel turned round and round as the old woman worked with long threads. "Excuse me," said Rosebud politely, "what are you doing?" "Why, my dear, I am spinning thread." Rosebud watched the wheel turn. "How wonderful. I've never seen a spinning wheel before."
"Would you like to try it, my child?" Rosebud's eyes sparkled with curiosity. "Oh, yes! May I?" "Of course. Come closer." Rosebud stepped toward the spinning wheel and reached out to touch its pointed needle. And then... "Ouch!" The needle pricked her finger.
At once, Rosebud felt terribly sleepy. Her eyes grew heavy, she tried to stand, but her legs became weak, and before she could say another word, Princess Rosebud sank to the floor, fast asleep. The old woman stood up. Her gentle smile disappeared, and suddenly her appearance began to change. It was the wicked fairy. She had disguised herself as an old woman. "At last, my curse has come true," she laughed, and with a cruel laugh she vanished.
When the king and queen discovered their daughter, they were heartbroken. "Rosebud! My darling, wake up," cried the queen. But the princess did not move. The royal doctors tried everything they could, but nothing worked, and the princess remained in a deep, magical sleep. The king gently lifted Rosebud into his arms and carried her to her bedroom. He laid her on her soft bed and surrounded her with beautiful red roses, and the queen sat beside her daughter, holding her hand. "Oh, my sweet Rosebud. How I wish you could open your eyes again."
Just then, a gentle light appeared in the room. The kind young fairy had returned. "Your Majesties, do not lose hope. The princess is only sleeping, and one day she will awaken." The fairy waved her magical wand, and a soft, shimmering light spread across the palace. The king fell asleep beside his daughter. The queen fell asleep in her chair. The guards fell asleep at their posts, and the servants, the courtiers, the birds and even the animals all fell into a deep slumber. The fairy had placed the entire kingdom under a sleeping spell.
"Sleep peacefully," she whispered. "When Princess Rosebud awakens, all of you shall awaken too." And with that, time stood still inside the kingdom. Years passed, then more years, and still more years. The palace remained silent, and outside its walls wild plants began to grow.
Thick, thorny bushes covered the gardens, long branches twisted around the gates, and soon an enormous wall of thorny roses surrounded the entire castle. No one could enter. Far away, people began telling stories about the sleeping kingdom. They spoke of a beautiful princess who had been asleep for a hundred years.
Many brave princes came from distant lands and tried to cut through the thorny bushes, but the branches were too thick and the thorns were too sharp, and no one could reach the palace. Until one special day. Exactly one hundred years after Princess Rosebud had fallen asleep, a kind and brave young prince arrived near the forest. As he traveled, he met an old man who told him the story of the sleeping princess. "A princess who has slept for a hundred years?" asked the prince.
"Yes. She lies inside a castle hidden behind a wall of thorny roses. Many have tried to reach her, but none have succeeded." The prince listened carefully, then stood tall. "I must try. Perhaps I can help break the curse." He thanked the old man and walked toward the sleeping kingdom.
Soon he reached the enormous wall of thorns, its branches twisted together like a giant green fence. The prince drew his sword, but before he could cut a single branch. something magical happened. The thick thorny bushes slowly began to move. The branches opened, the sharp thorns pulled away, and a clear path appeared before him.
The hundred years were finally over. The prince stepped through the opening and entered the castle, where everything was completely still. The guards stood sleeping at the gates, the servants slept in the halls, and even the birds were silent. "Hello? Is anyone here?" the prince called softly, but no one answered.
He climbed the grand staircase and passed through the quiet corridors, until at last he reached a beautiful bedroom. And there, surrounded by red roses, lay Princess Rosebud. The prince stopped. She looked so peaceful, as though she had fallen asleep only moments ago. He remembered the old man's story, that only true love could break the spell, and he felt a deep love for the beautiful sleeping princess. He gently leaned forward and gave her a soft kiss. For a moment, nothing happened.
Then Princess Rosebud's fingers moved. Her eyes slowly opened, she looked around the room, and when she saw the prince, she smiled. "My dear prince... at last, you have come." The prince smiled warmly and held her hand. "Princess Rosebud! You're awake." And at that very moment, the magical spell broke. All across the palace, everyone began waking up. The king opened his eyes, the queen sat up in her chair, the guards stretched their arms, and the servants returned to their work. The birds began singing, and the animals woke from their long sleep.
The entire kingdom had come back to life, and everything was just as it had been one hundred years earlier. The king and queen hurried to their daughter's room, and when they saw Rosebud awake, they could hardly believe their eyes. "Rosebud! Our darling daughter," the queen cried, hugging her tightly, and the king smiled through tears of happiness.
The terrible curse was finally over. Soon the prince told the king and queen how he had found their sleeping kingdom, and he asked for Princess Rosebud's hand in marriage. The king and queen happily agreed, and Rosebud and the prince were delighted. A grand wedding was arranged, and once again the kingdom was filled with music, laughter and celebration. Beautiful flowers decorated the palace, the people danced joyfully, and all the kind fairies were invited to bless the prince and princess. This time, the wicked fairy was not invited. The fairies brought wonderful gifts and wished the couple a lifetime of happiness.
Princess Rosebud and her prince began a wonderful new life together. The kingdom was peaceful once more, the terrible curse had been broken, and the princess who had slept for a hundred years was finally awake. And they all lived happily ever after...
